Face Painting Facts

WE ONLY USE the highest quality professional theatrical make-up. Our make up is approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for use on all areas of the skin. Water soluble, hypoallergenic, and non-toxic, our make up provides excellent coverage for a professional look. The make-up we use is the same professional make-up serving theater, film, and television around the globe for more than 50 years.Our glitter is made from eye-friendly material produced especially for facepainting, and contains no sharp edges.

WE DO NOT USE acrylic paint. Some facepainters use acrylics in their work. Unfortunately, acrylics release small amounts of formaldehyde in the drying process, which can result in allergic reactions in those painted. Acrylics also contain a polymer (form of plastic), which is unhealthy for the skin. Most face paints that can be found in local craft stores and pharmacies contain warnings restricting use of certain colors near eyes or mouths. The reason for this is because they contain colors which are restricted by the FDA for use in those areas since they can stain the skin. You will also find this problem with FDA compliant make-up. FDA compliant make-up is made with some FDA approved ingredents; however the final product does not meet the standards of the FDA for approval. They also recommend a "patch" test before use because they contain chemicals which may cause reactions in some people. Some FDA-compliant makeups contain perfumes which may also cause adverse reactions. In addition, some painters use craft glitter, which is made from ground metal or plastic and can easily scratch the cornea of the eye.

Again, Sunshine Faces uses only FDA APPROVED, water-based theatrical make-up and glitter.
